John Collins joined the Garden City Kiwanis Club in the early 1990s and has co-chaired the Garden City Kiwanis Foundation St. Patrick’s luncheon, which is the primary fundraising event for the Foundation, for almost 20 years. John was responsible for bringing the luncheon from Baldwin to the Garden City Hotel in 2001, where it truly belonged.
John is a three-time past president and was a long-term treasurer of the Garden City Kiwanis Club. John was also a member of the Franklin Square Kiwanis Club for many years.
The funds raised from the Garden City Kiwanis Foundation St. Patrick’s luncheon support our charitable endeavors, including sending children to Kamp Kiwanis, providing scholarships to Garden City students, adopting families at Christmas, organizing a baby shower to provide infant clothing for mothers in need, food drives and donating to the Victory Games, Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center, Kamp Kiwanis and many other worthy organizations.
John was a partner at Margolin, Winer & Evens LLP (MWE), a CPA and business advisory firm in Garden City, where his clients were primarily in the real estate and hedge fund industries. In 2012, John retired from MWE after 42 years. MWE still provides volunteers each year when Garden City Kiwanis barbecues for the Victory Games.
John has resided in Garden City since 1985 and has been an active member of St. Anne’s, a member of the Hempstead Country Club and past treasurer of the Garden City Historical Society. John has 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
